There are many opportunities for residents to become more informed about initiatives or more involved in issues around crime and safety, below are just a few examples: 

Neighbourhood policing teams

Essex Police have developed Neighbourhood Action Panels (NAPS) which take place at the  Community Forums  public meetings across Thurrock. Residents are given the opportunity to raise 3 priorities that they would like to see tackled and can monitor the progress via the Neighbourhood policing team website or by attending the Forum meetings. They also work very closely with the voluntary, community and faith Sector to ensure that their priorities are those that are coming from the community themselves and that more importantly they are feeding back on how they are working with partners to ensure that Thurrock is a safer place to live in. Thurrock Community Safety Partnership

The Thurrock Community Safety Partnership is a partnership made up of various agencies and groups working together to ensure that Thurrock is a safer place to live, work and socialise in. They are part of the Shaping Thurrock's Local Strategic Partnership family of boards. The partnership hold a wide of community events across Thurrock in in order to provide residents with crime prevention information. They provide information and free security items to re-assure and make residents feel safer. Neighbourhood Watch 

Neighbourhood Watch is a popular way for people of all ages to get involved and address crime issues. This is achieved by by encouraging people to come together and share crime prevention advice and activities and to keep an eye on each others property, improving home security and building a two way communication with the police. Anti social Behaviour team

Anti social behaviour is such an important issues for most residents living in Thurrock.No matter where we live a resident will experience anti social behaviour in one way or another. Unfortunately there are no clear definition to what anti-social behaviour is and can also depend on each persons own tolerance levels. There is now a Anti social team established within Thurrock Council who can support communities who are experiencing it at high levels. Concerns can also be shared with your local neighbourhood policing team.
